Describe a project where the choices you made regarding material, size, technique, etc helped enhance this project.
This
is one of my personal favorites in my collection of art pieces I made in sculpture
class this year. This was a combined project involving Kyle Davis and myself.
We decided to call this piece freedom because it is a 3D sculpture of the
American Flag. We made it completely out of cardboard, which at times was hard.
We fixed the problem of it falling over by using leverage and making there be
an even force of pull on every side. This helped a lot because we made it big
to represent the greatness, power, and size of the American Flag. We also made
some stars hanging in the air on some string so it appears that they are
floating in the air. The floating stars is probably my favorite part of this
piece because it was very creative.
Which
project was your most successful? Describe the theme and or topic and the
process you went through to complete the project.
The
project I had the most success with and came out the best was my marble drop
piece. This sculpture was also a team work effort with my partner in crime,
Kyle Davis. This project took us a long time to finish because we spent a lot
of time making sure that everything worked and functioned perfectly every time.
This project was a lot of fun because we made sure to never tell Ms. Sudkamp
the theme as it was going to be a surprise. Now she can finally find out that
the theme was a water park. While doing the marble drop we went through
multiple different ways to get the marble to where we wanted it to go next.
When you look at the marble drop you can really see the water park theme pop
out at you. Like going down the slides and the funnel shaped ride. I am very
proud of how this piece came out and wouldn’t change a thing.
Regardless
of whether a project was successful or not, describe the one where you learned,
grew, or developed the most from? Please explain.
This
last piece that I made was actually 100% my own and all my idea. I fell in love
with doing this kind of piece so much that I did it multiple times. This piece
is made completely out of plants and all natural. From doing this I learned
that I liked doing natural art the most. I could walk outside and do so many things
with all of the living and nonliving things all over. I took the stem of one plant
and used it to puncture a lot of leafs that I folded twice over. This made them
appear thicker and fuller than just shoving the stem through without folding
them at all. I decided to call this piece “mother nature’s crown”. This also
helped me learn that I don’t need an assortment of different tools to make a
cool art piece.
